The CODE and/or VBCODE tags ...

Is it possible to have a message in the "new thread" or "reply to" pages that always reminds to use one of those tags?
There are too many people who don't know nothing about it until they are advised.

It did indeed but nobody seems to read those "please read before you post" type of threads... So that's the problem.
Or if they do read then they must be reading it between the lines.
On the other hand if you would see something right in front of you - you are more likely to do what it says...

Well we cant "force" members to use the vb/code tags but usually when I come across a newer member not using them I modify the post with them to make it wasier for other members to ready the code. This will increase the probability of it being read and answered.

I don't think I've ever mentioned "force" nor I had it in mind...
Some label, reminder, recomendation - whatever you may call it - that's all I'm asking and it should be right where try to reply or post something new.

Well we already have the version selector in a new post for the .NET forums so probably a bit too much to implement it across the forums and would also require a Hack blah, blah, blah...

no hack necessary, just a template edit.

Thats considered the same as Hack. When an upgrade is performed the developers have to go back and redo all the template edits and Hacks. This is time consuming and the devs make the big $$$$ so its expensive too.

If they don't read the 'before you post', and they can't see the "VBCode' icon in the toolbar, then it is doubtful that they will pay attention to much of anything we do short of writing an algorithm that determines if code is in the post without a code tag and then automatically flags the post and gives a warning..... Since that level of change is not going to happen (and would get complex really quickly), I'd say that we are going to be stuck asking people to add the tags or in living without them in some posts.

If there is a simple solution that isn't intrusive, then we can push to see if we can make it happen, but I'm not sure there is such a change. Plus, as indicated, it could get overwritten when future upgrades happen (so it needs to be simple enough to recreate).

In general, I don't expect that anything will change for this. (I will, however, see if we can get the # icon changed to a 'Code' icon. (This has been done before, but upgrades have overwritten it.....)
