Nuclear Jihad - Documentary by CBC/NYT

I watched this documentary airing on Discovery Times yesterday. Quite scary. Traces how North Korea got their weapons and Iran got centrifuge designs.

Also looks at how Saudi Arabia could have potentially received nuclear designs, and how some top nuclear scientists even have links with al qaida (one of them is shown in a picture with osama bin laden).

I do not want to start a flame war. A copy of this documentary is on youtube.com

    Part 1:

    Part 3:

It is quite scary, and shows just how close we are to a world of nuclear chaos.

Surprise surprise!! The Pakistani nuclear scientist is "under house arrest" in Pakistan, and cannot be interrogated by anyone other than the Pakistani military. This guy has been hailed as the architect of the Pakistani nuclear power, and thought of as a hero of sorts by the people. Yet the US is doing pretty much nothing to have him interrogated and his activities scrutinized to find out who all were involved in this nuclear black marketing. The US is happy to have the Pakistani government's "cooperation" in the so-called war on terror.

Come to think of it all, the invasions into Afghanistan and Iraq were simply election propaganda for Bush. Nothing substantial has come out of it and nothing ever will, except complete chaos in both these countries and the surrounding areas. It would be a tough decision when it comes to cleansing the world of terror: Bush or Saddam?

We realized this when we cracked the first atom. You can't put the genie back in the bottle, and there is no guarantee that the result will be a good one.

Invading Afghanistan had nothing to do with the Taliban refusing to turn over Bin Laden? Right?

And that's what I mean by 'ignorance.' People, who ordinarily might be smart, are deprived of the data by which to make a rational decision, don't have the data to do it."

I would be more concerned that Australia is now looking at changing their long time pacifist stance and once again building nuclear reactors.

Doesn't this scare the bee-jesus out of anyone else.

Are we to forget that Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Australia?

Or that they have a history of dropping atom bombs on Pacific islands (they always claim that it was the French, but suspicously there are always Australian boats in the area hmmmmm).

If we don't counter this threat now, before you know it we will all be under the oppressive yoke of the Australian government and being forced to drink luke warm beer and urinate in the streets.

I'll grant you the urinating in the streets, but luke warm beer is firmly the domain of the British.

British? Australian? I always get those two mixed up. Must be your common love of the Queen, Cricket and Kylie (not neccessarily in that order).

Oh it's easy to remember the difference. The Australians are the ones we convicted.

Also you can tell the difference by looking at their relative position to the nearest bar. If he's an Australian he'll be behind it.

Yes, but if they have the courage of those convictions, they could be a tough foe.
