it depends...... on what you want to do ........ VBExpress is great for learning..... nad for doing small dev with....... but for big apps....... you will need........... something stronger.

VB6 -- Old technology..... last greatest VB....before .NET
VB5 - even older..... did you mean VB2005 by chance??????? that would be the latest........

At the end of the day, getting the full product is expensive when the free version does what you need. It's just good economic sense

VB.Net 2005 Express is for beginners and/or hobbyists. It's a nice product but quite limited. If you are professional programmer then you will need full product which is expencive btw.

which is why it is best to persuade the company you work for that it is in their interest to get VS2005. There are many different editions so do your homework beforehand to see which is best for you

If company is looking toward new technology then it's "in their interest to get VS2005" full product to begin with... So, how can Express be "best" ?

Re: Is VB 2005 Express the best???

I think that Express could do that... the problem is that the code you need to write would be complex (no more complex than in the 'full' versions).

    I think SI is right...

Anyway, if you live in the States then you may want to check out School of Visual Arts - it's in NY and they have FILM AND VIDEO course.
I don't know if it's affordable for your family but looks like @ the age of 14 you already know what you want to do so I would at least visit their site...

    Best of luck kid.
