cannot open
as i am trying to open a vb .net project with asp application it gives the error no eb erver i installed at this url . can u plz tell me the solution to this problem . i am using vs 2003

Do you have IIS installed and any prerequsits for running web services?

error is no web server installed

Sounds like you dont then. IIS is the Internet Information Server services.
what Os are you using?

If you are running XP Home then you cant run IIS. If your running XP Pro then you can add IIS by going to the control panel and clicking add/remove software. Then click add windows components. Then check IIS and you may be prompted to provide the XP cd for the needed files.

Then check in the ontrol panel > components for IIS in the list.

sir , write now i do not have the cd so may be i may cmplete the procedure later but r u sure that doing this may solve the problem. and i may consult to u for the same later on

Did you checkk if IIS is checked in your components already? If it was then its installed already. If it wasnt then its not installed.

ma'am.....uuuhm....VS (2003) would not install without IIS in the first place if I remember correctly?
or are you using 2005? You dont need IIS for that at all.

From what I remember, you can install VS 2003 without IIS but you wouldnt be able to have the ability to create or open existing web projects since a localhost wouldnt be running notr the Front Page server extensions.
