watch tv using vb
hi i was wandering if anyone knows or is it possible to watch tv ie through sky on your computer using visual basic.
the reason why i am askin is that i want to have the actual tv fill 80% of the screen with the tv and the rest 20% there will be another screen or window running advertisements or special offers for my buisness,
if anyone could help me out on this or knows of any similar programs or links it would be much appreciated as there is more i would do but that would be the basic start, also i would be willing pay for someone to do this if needs be so please let me know.

I think you used to be able to buy a "tuner card" for your PC...to watch tv programs.

Yes, you need a Video Card that can do it
This is the video card that I have in one of my comptuers: ATI All-In-Wonder RADEON 9600 PRO Video Card
Comes with remote control too
After that, if you really need to see the TV in your program, there is an API to do that, but I forgot which one exactly, but I'm sure you can find it if you search on the forums. Usually this is related to recording video.

I also suggest you check out www.virtualdub.org as that program's written in VB and full source is available...AND the guy behind it is very helpful so if you don't bombard him with questions and act noob he'll help :-)
*IF* you manage to find the API that can display video from the video in port on a TV card (or through a TV card), bear in mind that you can't control what channel you're watching unless you understand the system fully (and it might differ from card to card :-P)

Well, everyone else has been doing it :-)
Loading a file into memory QUICKLY - Using SendKeys - HyperLabel - A highly customisable label replacement - Using resource files/DLLs with VB - Adding GZip to your projects
Expect more to come in future
If I have helped you, RATE ME! :-)
I love helping noobs with their VB problems (probably because, as an amateur programmer, I am only slightly better at VB than them :-)) but if you SERIOUSLY want to get help for free from a community such as VBForums, you have to first have a grounding (basic knowledge) in VB6, otherwise you're way too much work to help...You've got to give a little if you want to get help from us, in other words!
And we DON'T do your homework. If your tutor doesn't teach you enough to help you make the project without his or her help, FIND A BETTER TUTOR or try reading books on programming! We are happy to help with minor things regarding the project, but you have to understand the rest of it if you want our help to be useful.
