Once in a while i am curious to know what my IQ is, so i goto www.iqtest.com abd i fill in the form and then they post me my results, last time i took the test (last year) my IQ was 126 which is good and i have just taken the test today to find that my IQ is 143. i was wondering what people think of IQ tests and what their IQ is.

BTW an Iq isn't what you know, it is how quick your brain can work it out.

If you do goto that site then remember to note the time that you start the test.

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

I think they're a load of crap to be quite honest. I expect the professional style ones that take hours are better, but I don't believe that they are a particularly accurate measure of general intelligence. I took one online ages ago, did much better than I should have done, and basically dismissed them from there.

i don't know. I am not sure how accurate online/program IQ tests are. I ahve taken at least 5 of them and the range has always been 158-162, 158 being the lowest, 162 being the highest. I don't think i am really that smart though.

yeah, my parents were both tested in school. I have never been professionally tested, and i don't think that anyone really puts stock into them these days.

Your IQ is nothing but a way of measuring how good you are at IQ tests. I've just taken the test and got 157, which is about what I usually get, I know 2 people with IQ's in the 180s (from the official Mensa test) and to be quite honest they were both as thick as a pig's breakfast after it's come out of the pig. They were both great at listening to what the teacher said, writing down every word and regurgitating it in an exam. But neither of them ever had an original thought in the whole time I knew them.
If it wasn't for this sentence I wouldn't have a signature at all.

    Thumbs down Intelligence

Scientists still can't agree on a definition for intelligence so until they're agreed, we can't know how well an IQ test reveals your intelligence.

Personally, I think IQ tests reveal a particular aspect of intelligence whist ignoring many others. Also, even though they're not supposed to, all IQ tests I have seen have some questions that require some general knowlege to answer (which goes against the grain of what they're supposed to do).

I took it and got 143 in 9 minutes. I agree with Simonm I mean what is Intellegence anyway?

This test is also quite American centric e.g. questions about dimes, city blocks and so on. People do better with practice and studies show that generally IQ tests tend to favour white middle class individuals.

I think that imagination and innovation is far more valuable than an ability to solve pointless logic puzzels.

    157 in 6 minutes.

I struggled with the questions on US currency and 'blocks' though.
