    There's a client/server chat application using Sockets in the 2003 101 Samples from MS. See my signature for a link.

    The one that is prefaced by 101 Samples depending on which version of .Net you are running.

    I'm not sure whether the 2005 samples include a similar example but the 2003 sample projects can be opened in VS 2005. Once you've installed the 2003 set the sample of interest is in the folder named "Advanced .NET Framework - Networking/Sockets" or something very similar.
