    IRA funding

I see nothing wrong in giving funds over to people for the IRA.

One has to think of the future you know, and these people are only doing what they think is best.

Well, sure, there are some that say the IRA's are dangerous and they bomb and all that, but on the whole they probably even things out bringing prosperity to the downtrodden and poor.

It's all about freedom, freedom to do your own thing, freedom not to have to bow down to "the man" etc.

I don't think most people understand that.

How can you say that? Personally, have you had any involvement with the IRAs, or are you just spouting popular opinion from articles you've read in the Wall Street Journal?

I lived in London and ive seen their death and destruction.
If scum is too strong a word, then at least criminal and mass murderers suits them well.

PS. you think i read the wall street journal

I've never really heard anything bad about them. Plenty of people swear by them, I can't see how you can call them criminal and mass murders. That's not the truth at all.

mmmhhh I assumed all IRA members where living in old peoples homes nowadays..... they are so 1960-ish.

BTW The bad thing about the IRA is they are prepared to kill people for politics. I'll grant you the english have done some bad things as well, but it isn't neccesary to kill (anymore).

I strongly suggest that you start to think about your future. Here's what the government says about them:

I agree that saving money is the kind of thing that old folk do.

I see what you mean about them killing folk as well. This old guy down the road from us was rolling in money because of his wise IRA investments, so he used to go out and buy red meat and deserts and all that stuff the old folks shouldn't be eating. He died from a heart-attack a few years later, so yes, you could say that the IRA killed him, as if he had been poor he would have had to eat healthier, you know, like chicken and rice, and would probably still be alive today - albiet living in a cardboard box at the side of the road - but alive none the less!

This should not be in the World Events forum as that is reserved for Serious topical threads, of which this is obviously not. Brad has already stressed the need for [Serious] [Unserious] tags where the theme is misleading from the initial post, thus this requires an [Unserious] tag, and to be moved to ChitChat (or the rubbish bin)

Maybe you can look at this thread at another side....
it is a very serious thread showing people (like me) just assume things to be right about serious events without questioning the meaning of a remark...
You/I can learn a very serious lesson through this thread, but I won't of course

Besides, what's not serious about investing in the future. It's hardly my fault that you guys tried to drag it off topic...

I agree 100%, if it was in the ChitChat forum, but this is the World Events forum and is therefore reserved for Serious threads....and intelligent posters so that disqualifies Suzzi anyway
