    Following chrisjk's comment - most of you will have found these hidden options and setting in MS products which explain some of his problems but for those who haven't here is some help . . .

    On a slightly more serious but related note - have you any idea about how to change the processor resources allocated to different Windows tasks. You used to be able to do this in Windows 3.1/3.11 and of course VMS/RSX and it would be really useful in W98/ME/2000 !
