    Patch

I want to create a small update patch for my software. I want to update 3 DLLs I have found the difference (offset) between old and new DLL I know how to open and inject those offset values I want to ask that is there any other method so I don’t have to write all the offset values one by one?.
What is CRC? Is that what I am looking for?
    Any suggestion?

    Re: Patch

If it is your software why are you hacking the dll's. You should be deploying the whole dll. Why make it harder than it is supposed to be.

Why i give customers 6MB Dlls when i can create 200KB patch file to update my app

    Code:

"Hacking" is wrong term. I just want to create update utility using reverse technique. many big soft company use this technique to update their soft

May be you are not aware of patching that’s why you are saying this. InstallShield also provide project to create patch update may be they also encouraging “hacking”

If you have Instashield you should use that to patch or update your program.

We use English here, this "SMS speak" is unintelligible. Please type out your words in full.

As for your problem, randem is right, it is a bad idea. If you are worried about file size then make multiple small DLLs which will be easier to update.

I was aware of patching probably before you were born... That's very old technology... Pre internet, when updates were done by phone lines. Then that was the preferred method because of size and speed at 14kbs or slower. Today that is not a problem.

I don't know what kind of Installation Specialist you are. I know my English is bad but not that bad that u can’t even understand my question. I am not asking what method I should use for update I am asking how people make patches what is CRC. If you still don’t understand then Mr. Specialist thanks for your help reply somewhere else.
