    Dual Monitors

Ok, so how many of you here regularly work with 2 Monitors?

Right now i have my lovely new 17" LCd up next to my old 17" CRT... I'm liking it lots as i can have video on one, and everything erlse on the other

Shame my desk isn't big enough to support them both

I use 2 at home too. I usually write code on the left hand screen (in VIM, naturally) and have either firefox or some form of documentation open in the main screen. Its actually illegal to not have a terminal console open in Linux at all times. *true*

Funny that, i always had a console open when i used Linux (Debian). Not that i knew how to use it for very much, but hey...

Sounds like a good idea, i always seem to find one or two apps that are fighting for screen real estate

I'm annoyed that my laptop's video has only one aux output. I could really do with 3 screens. Then I could have CAD-Comic open.

I am using 3 flat panel monitors. Makes life much easier. One 18" and two 17" ViewSonic LCDs. Lets me have one screen for for coding, one for SQL Server Management Studio and the third for IE, property windows, help file docs, etc. I can code while looking at a table definition or stored procedure and not have to switch back and forth all the time.

Makes alot of sense, but how are you managing three screens from one PC?

    Re: Dual Monitors

I havent got it cabled the way I need yet but currently running 4 systems on a Linksys KVM. I usually run only 2 systems concurrently most of the time but remember that thread in General PC about Triple monitors? Well a link was posted to some software that can manage multiple monitors but only if the other system is on the same network and powered on. It uses the other systems video card and emulates it on your system.

    Re: Dual Monitors

Well still need to get an extension cable before I can have it setup the correct way so I can take advantage of all three screens on one system but shouldnt be too long now. So far the desktop only goes across two monitors but the third still displays a secondary systems video. Plus, I dont like the way the 3 monitors look on my desk so I think I will replace the 18" one as its 7+ years old now and not as bright. Then I will have all 3 - 17" of the same size.

I use a fancy sony laptop at work that fits into a cradle. It has a nice wide screen and I use a second 17" tft for p@rn and other important stuff.
