Online forums don't usually allow you to delete your account, go to the Options and set it so you don't receive any emails

Deleting accounts is very easy, but we don't do it.

Online forums are based on questions and then answers. Once posted, others may have the same questions, so posts are left for others to search. Because this is a public forum, we leave the account name associated with the questions that are asked.

If you don't want emails or PMs from the site, you can simply turn those settings off in your User CP (Control Panel).

Actually, you can turn email off from other members, you can turn of PMs, and you can set the default email value for subscriptions.

There isn't a global setting to override subscriptions, rather there is a global setting and you can override it on indivdual threads. The only way to turn off existing threads subscriptions (that I know of) is to go to each thread and modify your post to say you don't want the email.

That's what I feared.

I don't have the spare time or patience to do 4,900+ threads so the next best option will have to suffice: auto filter mails with "Reply to post" into the trash.

So, I just tested something and it seems to work.

Does the "Send a message VIA email to XXXXX" Link actually still work after a member has been banned?

It seems so, as seen here:

Just so you know,

My Message did get to aggrajag, despite him being banned.

He indicated that he also is still getting PM's.

So, if you are banned before you do these things, apparently you're stuck till eternity with them active?

I missread the 'something' part. Sorry about that.

My assumption was that everything was in essense "off" for a banned user. Interesting that it is not. Then again - if someone did somethign to deserve to be banned, then if they get bugged with a few unwanted emails.... <evil></evil>

It seems that the settings are left as they were for the user, so if the user had them off, they will still be off. I can always turn them off after a ban if requested.

As stated, I did it for testing purposes.

Since he didn't seem to have done anything to have caused his bannishement, I was wondering what he did that made someone ban him. So, on my way to search for all his posts, (thinking he had perhaps performed something offensive in chit chat), I went to his public profile, and, when I saw that link to contact him, it "clicked" in my mind that that should not function since he had been banned.

So I clicked it, and I didn't get any message saying that it couldn't be used, so I continued on, expecting somewhere that It would finally say that you can't contact banned members because, well, they're banned.

But it never stopped me.
