    sound problem

    well recently a virus uninstalled my sound drivers so i reinstalled and deleted virus. now sometimes something on my pc crashes with one of those send error reports and it disables the sound so i have to restart. anyone know y?

    Go to device manager,disable your sound device,uninstall it and then reinstall.Check if this fixes the problem

    well i did that and it still happens. it tends to happen when im watching a movie or playing a game. i will upload a picture of the error in a minute.


    EDIT: ok i attached the error.

    its coming from svhost.exe and the blacked out part is just my pc's username.

    The most difficult part of developing a program is understanding the problem.

    Actually writing the program (translating your solution into some computer language) is the easiest part.

    well if that's the case see if you can grab a good version of svchost.exe off of another computer ( with the same os obv) and copy it using a boot disk

    well how exactly would i do that? just burn it to any cd and boot to the cd?

    go in to another computer and copy svchost to a floppy boot disk then boot the disk and replace the file

    well the crashing has stopped now.

    just wondering, could something overheating cause this problem?

    well what did you do to fix it ? if nothing then its a posibility but seems unlikely
