Sorry... I know this isn't very helpful, but CR4
I have used CR4, but back then I was developing apps in VB3 on Windows 3.1... any chance of upgrading your CR? The latest version is 11 I think.
I know you said you've loaded all the runtimes, but it sounds like something's missing.
    Good luck.

    Re: VB6 CR4 over a network

    Pete,

I got the reports to come up today ... I did two things at the same time, mapped the network drive to Z:\ - thinking that maybe CR4, being 16 bit, was having a hard time reading a very long network address; and ran filemon, which showed the app whinging about a missing dll - although the app runs and shows reports on my home machine without that dll being on the system.

So probably due to the long network name.

Yes, I know CR4 is waaaay out of date, it's impossible trying to find any support or even any info at all on the net. But I'm doing these apps as a labour of love, sort of. I work in a small health clinic, as a nurse. These apps streamline the work a lot, and sometimes make the impossible a bit more feasible. But I don't get paid for doing them, so it's hard to justify forking out >$1000 for CR XI Developer edition.

    thanks for your help, Peter
