[RESOLVED] FireFox BookMarks problem
hello,
i dont know how it happened, i switched on my PC and it started the CheckDisk utility (before starting XP) and checked & corrected few files on my Administrator profile/account.
Opened the Firefox, and all my Bookmarks were gone.
Is there any way to retrieve them back. i had the older bookmark file, but it doesn't have the new bookmarks that i added few days back.
thank you

Re: FireFox BookMarks problem
Do a clean shutdown and restart, and see if it comes back fine on the restart. If not, check to see if the profile folder is still there, which it most likely is. Then head over to the mozilla page to find out how to manage profiles..

Re: FireFox BookMarks problem
In your Firefox profile folder look for bookmarks.html file. It is firefox's bookmark file.
If it is not present, look for bookmarks.bak, firefox autometically backups bookmarks when you modify the list. Rename it to Bookmarks.html and see what happens.
Edit: Better make a backup of Bookmarks.bak file before trying anything else.
If those files are missing,
Open the .chk files in notepad. Hopefully some of them will contain your bookmarks.
With some effort, you'll be able to recreate/recover a new bookmark.htm file manually.

Re: FireFox BookMarks problem
@gigemboy,
No, nothing happened with the fresh Turn Off or Restart. But thank you for the link. I wasn't aware of the Profile thing.
@iPrank,
thank you it helped. In the Firefox Profile folder, apart from the Bookmarks (and its backup file), there was a BookMarksBackup folder and it contain the bookmarks of the past week. I got the recent one.
Thank you.
