    Firefox 2 RC1

I was told that Firefox 2 RC1 has come out, anyone know where it's available for download? All I could find was a third-party website, not sure if it can be trusted.

This is nice. The textareas on pages have a spell checker, quite light too. And the Google search box has an auto suggest.

Oooh... rough over 80, eh? That's not good. I like to be able to take it out on the Info SuperHighway and open it up a little... 120-130..... Good thing it's open source, just pop the hood on that baby, add in a turbo, a little nox, put a good set of tires on it....

    Re: Firefox 2 RC1

It's a beta. (Not RC1.) Of course there are problems.

Though truthfully, in more than 3 weeks of using it, I've had just one crash (Linux version, which is usually less stable). Main problem is that not all extensions are updated: the essential Next Please! has only been available for a few days now. Web Developer still hasn't been updated, neither have a few others I use quite a lot.

Indeed, it's beta 1, not a release candidate.

It's odd though as I have both installed, but when I open Fx 2 (and then open the about page thru the help menu) it says it's 1.5.0.6
    !?!

    Re: Firefox 2 RC1

Yep, that's true. Whenever you start Firefox, it first tries to find a running instance - and it doesn't care about the version of that instance.

    Re: Firefox 2 RC1

Doesn't crash as often as 1.5 used to. Surprisingly stable for an RC. I just hope they don't rename it to a Web 2.0 'standard', like Firefx.

Never? Do you use separate windows for each page you visit?

It crashes most often, for me at least, when the page has java applets on it. Not because it's got java applets on it, but the most common factor has been java applets.
