Re: desktop of remote computer
It's easier than that, even.
Just tick "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" from the same location. Then you don't need to mess around with invitations.
To log on to a networked computer via Remote Desktop, go to Start -> Run (Win+R) -> "mstsc". Then type the computer name or IP.

Re: desktop of remote computer
That depends on the OS here running PG
Only XP has the setting you specified. 2000 pro does support the RDC but it an additional download from MS and you still cant connect to a 2000 system the same way you can with XP.

Re: desktop of remote computer
2000 Pro does not have the "Remote Access" option that has been mentioned. There is a downloadable feature of XP's remote desktop connection utility but it will only let you connect remotely from the 2000 system to another and not the other way around.
You could connect if your network has Terminal Server services running on one of your servers. Then you can connect to the workstations desktops via the Terminal Services Manager.

Like I posted you should have Terminal Server services available to you since you have a Windows Server.

Re: desktop of remote computer
I believe there might also be third party remote desktop applications available, any of these would need to be installed on both PCs.

Re: desktop of remote computer
Well, I can't name any actual products, you would have to hunt around. But read up on Terminal Services first as that would save you having to use a third party (most likely commercial) product.

Re: desktop of remote computer
You have to install the server part on the other remote computer as your computer would be the client.

Re: desktop of remote computer
Make sure the ip address is correct and not behind any firewalls or other domains or at least have the correct info in its settings. If you are connecting locally in your lan then it should be able to see local IPs but if your connecting remotely then you will need a VPN setup for best access and security.

Re: desktop of remote computer
If this truely is on your LAN then you should be able to view if any firewalls or policies are applied by looking on the server. If you cant view on the server then I would suspect that this thread may not be legit.

Probably because hes not authenticed or being blocked by who's ever network hes trying to connect to.
Simple solution would be to setup a VPN but then again it has to be setup correctly and he needs to have acess to it legitimately.
