[RESOLVED] can anybody encounter this?

hello!
i have encounter this trouble on XP,
after i logged in it will bring back to ctrl-alt-del
is this a virus? any solution, besides from re-format?

Moved from classic VB.

Could be something in your startup or Run registry key.

i don't think its from registry, because all computers they are connected in a domain server
under windows 2003 server
have anyone encounter this problem?

You mean like an invalid password entry? Does your user account have logon day/time rectrictions?

If you have a virus they can have something in the registry or start menu

nope, no restrictions at all
what i mean is even an administrator account, after logging in
it will bring back to ctrl-alt-del, that's why all computer networks
can't load their desktop

if you load XP in safe mode it loads

any idea on this problem, a big problem is that there is no error msg
after log in you will see again the ctr-alt-del, it's like a loop

Ok probably not a virus then if its happening on all workstations on the network.

You could boot up with step by step confirmation or boot logging I believe and then see what is actually loading. Cant boot up my server now as the system HD is dead and dont want to reboot my xp system as I have a program running that I need to let complete so just going off of memory on the boot options.

Did you try logging in to your local system acc instead of the domain??

both its either local accnt or in network accnt
it will bring back the ctrl-alt-del after logged in

what is the cause of this problem, it almost all networks are affected
it is recommended o re-format the domain server (win2K3 server)?

I wouldnt reformat just yet as its probably some issue on the server. Look at the servers event logs and services to see that all necessary services are running and that there are no critical errors in the logs.

but he is saying that both the local acc and domain acc are not working .How is that possible ?? I mean how can all the workstations have the same problem?

sounds like a group policy setting?
perhaps you should review your group policy on the domain controller.

sometimes is shows this msg "netlogon not started" but you can't join to the network because it will go back to the ctrl-alt-del log in mode.
this is a huge problem on our network

Did you look at your servers event log files and policies yet?

So if the NetLogon service hasn't been started, can you start it from the domain controller for all the computers on the network? The login should work after that.

If nothing else, then disconnect the computer from the network, login locally, start the netlogon service, then connect it back to the domain.

who created this forum becase sometimes this is the fastest way to solve any
problem...

a glimpse history of the problem...
last saturday afternoon, the server(win2K3) has this problem (always show
the login screen even you have successfully login) but they restore some settings in it after that the server was OK,(in wink2k3 there is no full system restore not unlike in winXP, right?) and then all turned-on connected computers are all affected on this problem, my PC is now working because it is turn-off then.

we've reformat 5 workstations and they are OK now, but we have a hundreds of workstations do you see the time wasted if all these workstations need to reformat?

anybody who encounter this problem please tell your solution...
i don't think this is a bug on the side of microsoft
this is the main problem, always show
the login screen even you have successfully login
remember workstations(are winxP) system restore is not enable/set.

as mendhak said try disconnecting the computer and logging in does it do the same thing ? if so there is some setting on the computer itself that is the problem

we just boot on the XP cd rom and then choose file recovery
and choose the Restore Point (RP) you want to restore
