It sounds English rather than Dutch really, but we have pretty funky regional dialects here so I can't exclude anything.

in phils, there is the name Generoso for males, which will be given the nickname genny ("jenny") by spelling rights.. and all others such as. gene, ene, ner, ero, ros, oso... 
you just pick one

Not all countries are innfluent the same way as your small island... Like in Italy many girls have names that they look at at girls name, but in Norway they are stricktly boys name, and the other way around. Doesn't mean they have the same origin, nor same meaning.
