Database Error?
Randomly, while browsing the forums, I get this error:
There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.
An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
It has the same "look" as a 404 error page if you get what I'm saying.

Re: Database Error?
Is this a regular thing, or just occasional?
I had the same error briefly a few minutes ago, and it went after a refresh. Apart from then, I haven't seen it for months.

Re: Database Error?
It started today. It stopped me from browsing for about 10min and didn't go away with refreshing. It looks like it has passed for now, but I wanted to make sure the Admins knew about it.

Re: Database Error?
I got the same thing. It was persistent for about 10 min as well. It told me it sent you an email. So out of true IT spirit, I pounded on F5 until it started working.

Re: Database Error?
I'll have to see if we had a spike in traffic. That is usually when that creeps in....

Re: Database Error?
The error page is the standard vBulletin message for when the database connection goes AWOL. As Brad said it can be caused by traffic (excessive MySQL load) or possibly network issues if the MySQL DB is stored on a different server.

Yes, it does
But, Jupitermedia has guys with the job of watching such tech problems and of making sure that if traffic goes up and stays up that additional hardware is brought into the mix. As such, while it sounds ominous, it really isn't so bad
