MS SQL Connection Problem

hi! can anybody please help me..currently i have these code (below)

this.SqlConnection1 = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection ();
this.SqlConnection1.ConnectionString = "Persist Security Info=true;User ID=bcmd; Password=bcmd;Initial Catalog=BCMDDB; Data Source=abs\netsdk";
this.SqlConnection1.Open ();

and im pretty sure that my Database is up and running my DataBase instance name is 'ABS\NETSDK' and the name of my database is BCMDDB so I believe I the supplied the data neede right but when i try to run it, it gives me an error saying 'SQL Server does not exist or access denied.' is there any problem with my code? or can anobody please suggest or help me to solve this problem..any inputs will be greatly appreciated..thanks in advanace!!

Data Source=ABS\NETSDK;Initial Catalog=BCMDDB;User Id=bcmd;Password=bcmd;

Ensure that bcmd is a user in that database and has permissions to use it.
