    si_the_geek and goo_goo_dolls

On Sunday, I met si_the_geek and we went to a goo_goo_dolls concert.

    Notes:

    • si_the_geek has long hair and uses Pantene Pro-V to maintain its shininess. (See attachment. Photo taken without flash to protect his visual identity)
    • si_the_geek believes that the blue t-shirt he is wearing is actually green. (true)
    • Londoners get very suspicious if you say 'Thank you' to them.
    • Cigarettes are very cheap in Spain.
    • Cigarette boxes in Spain have 'No Smoking' symbols on them. (See attachment.)
    • si_the_geek does not have an English accent, and therefore it is easy to understand what he is saying.
    • London concert patrons are among the most civilized in the world. Nobody punched me in the face, and I punched nobody in the face.
    • Tall women who stand in front of me and block my view of the stage get offended when I say "Can I sit on your shoulders?" to them.

About the Tobaco, it is about like our snus then. Except it is written in Swedish, so no one understand it...

Oh yeah, forgot about the 'Cheers'.

But have a look at the cigarettes image again, it's got a 'no smoking' symbol on it.

You lost me...or did Si put something else in you over there???

BTW: Guess it is like the spanish people on the beach in Ibiza then. Those who are delivering out flyers:

    - FlyerGuY: You going to [Well known club] tonight
    - Me: Yeah, we where thinking about it.
    - FlyerGuy: Good, take this flyer, and you get 20% off in the door.
    - Me: Cheers (<- Notice, NOT thank you)
    - FlyerGuy: *Walks away saying* And remember, drink a lot or do drugs, but don't mix the two.
    - Me: Ehhhh...cheers????

Indeed, 'Cheers' is a strange word that can make people do strange things.

They started off quite explosively with "Stay with you", which sounds like it was written for concerts. Then on to "Black Balloon", "Let Love In", "Feel the Silence", your favorite "Better Days", "Without You Here", "Give a little bit", "We'll be here when you're gone", "Become" (lots of songs from the new album), "Slide" and a whole bunch of Robby Takac songs (the other guy in the band with the crowy voice). Although he was mostly headbanging on stage with his dreadlocks flying all over the place. The place erupted when they played "Iris".

    Edit: And "Name" too.

DTE Music Theatre, formally called Pine Knob, and still called Pine Knob by everyone who refuses to accept their corporate sell out to DTE (Detroit Edison), is an hour and halfs drive out of Detroit. It isn't even close to Detroit.

Actually, state law requires handicap access to all public facilities including concert arenas and they even have hookups for my oxygen, so as long as they don't go beyond 8:00 p.m. (20:00), I'll be able to stay awake and watch the show.

    Lies I tell you..
    I do not use Pantene.

    • si_the_geek believes that the blue t-shirt he is wearing is actually green. (true)
Nope, I believe the top that was in my bag (taken of due to the heat) was green.. and I believe the cap you said you'd be wearing had become invisible, and the phone I was supposed to call you on had mysteriously turned off when I arrived.

Some evil person had also stolen nearly all of the pubs too, but we managed to find one in the end (or rather two - one on each side of the road).

    • si_the_geek does not have an English accent, and therefore it is easy to understand what he is saying.
Your Canadian accent is easy to understand too.

    • Tall women who stand in front of me and block my view of the stage get offended when I say "Can I sit on your shoulders?" to them.
I can't think why! It got us a better view tho!

As to the songs, you got the order a bit wrong (but hey, they played them all!). They also played: Naked (which was a pleasant surprise), January Friend, Burning Up, Listen, and Broadway.

The band seemed to really enjoy themselves - especially Robbie, who couldn't stop bouncing around and smiling. They had a few "crowd interaction" moments, such as using someones phone to take pictures ("hey, the only number in your phone is 'mom'!"), and reading a sign held by someone ("can I have one of your guitars, you've got so many? ps: play Name")

They seemed impressed that the crowd knew the words to almost every song, and were willing to do the singing; I guess that saves the voices of the band!

It was a quality night, cheers.

Oh yeah, those were the details I forgot.

There was also one part where a woman threw her panties on stage, and Rzeznik appreciated it, telling us about how he collects these and sends them to poor women in Africa.

They did have a lot of energy that kept them going too, I was pretty sure they were stoned.

    Si: Put up pics?

The camera I used is a poor little disposable (I didn't want to risk losing a proper camera), so the pics will be slow to arrive, and almost certainly poor quality.
