wow my school sucks

[rant]ok so here i was on a computer in my school libary when i got a bunch of pop ups so i gave it a virus scan and and this is the most insulting thing i have ever seen its one thing when a student has more brains then our tech guy







he's so lazy it sickens me it took him 3 months to upgrade 1 computer to xp the sad thing is i see him playing need for speed and empire xp in his office when there are a good 10 computers BLUE screening! i cant even belive he got the job and he gets mad at kids for playing empire xp ? he's such a hypocrite [/ rant]

I used to teach C++ and pascal when i was in high school. our teacher was the network admin, so I just stayed ahead of the class (we only had like 9 people in the class).

Go for it. I got some good letters of recomendation from it.

Schools seem to be exempt from normal acceptable IT infrastructure/staff. My school didn't get away from windows 98 until 2002 and we didn't get away from netscape 4.0 until 2003. When I graduated in 2005, they were still using novell netware as well.

Then one computer needed something installed, so they just gave the windows login admin privalages and left it like that. Needless to say, a couple weeks later, the computer was so filled with spyware that it was unusable.

and the sad thing is if i bring it to the attention of the prinpical i may get suspeneded ( me and a friend are gonna show him the screen shot) its sad that they considering helping the school hacking ... well a rumor keeps spreading around my school that i apparently can " hack" into school computers:S its really gay

Bypass the principal crap. He likely knows nothing about computers except that, "those damn kids know too much about them cumpootars and have been messing them up". Demand to speak to whoever manages your tech stuff.

and that sophos is the most useless virus scan the active scan tells you there's a virus but dosent do anything about it

Sophos works really well... when it's set up right. Had it at our school, zapped everything chucked at it pretty damn quick

Hmm, our schools, especially colleges have state of the art IT stuff.
Most of the software comes for free from Microsoft, and the pc's are really new.
The admins don't know much about fixing stuff though, they just restore an image every evening..

The new novell client is hard to hack into.
Best way is to load your own OS from USB stick or USB-miniHD.

how do i get that to work? usb devices are activated after starting windows aren't they?

Not necessarily, you generally need to change the order of booting up in the BIOS to look at the CD drive and USB drive before using the HDD. However this is NOT recommended as you are changing the BIOS (which is likely password protected anyway) and I doubt they'd like that

They never used password protection for us. That's because we were allowed to boot from our own harddisks for some projects..
Simply use your own OS, install the novell client software and you can still access the network, without having all the restrictions. (All context-menus had been disabled and stuff like that)

well that sucks we dont have any of that al i did was use the windows password recovery at www.loginrecovery.com and got the local admin pass. now do note the only reason i did this is because i was sick of not being able to add somthing as trivial as componets into my vb projects. even though i could easily take down the enitre network ( the tech guy was stupid enough to keep the admin password the same for both local computer and the domain controller account i already know how to change grades,attendance, etc but i havent done it i'm a good boy
