Take a look at Atlas. The implementation is very interesting, calling web services is dead easy and you can learn XMLScript.

Ajax is only for making floors shiny and XML is good for making hamster bedding (because there's SOOOOO much of it and its best shredded).
People should learn computer science instead of wasting clock cycles on making their half-baked corporate website look like it was devised by a 6th form student on methadone.
