VB Interview Questions

Hi,

I'm new here and I wanted to ask if anyone can point me toward a site or something where I can pick up some genuine VB Interview Questions.

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place or made some other faux pas.

I'm in the market for a programming job after an extended break and I'm a bit rusty. I'm also not very comfortable with the whole interview process and, in particular, written or oral "tests". I'm a highly experienced programmer but, for some reason, I get flustered when put on the spot and am much more comfortable "doing" rather than explaining "how" I can do.

If I can get a better idea of what sort of questions I'm likely to be asked I can concentrate more on these areas instead of just getting up to speed with programming in general.

The stuff I've come across on the web so far either seems to be very specific e.g. COM/DCOM and go into too much depth for my purposes or seem to be posted by novices and both the questions and answers are either completely wrong or ambiguous.

If it helps, I'm primarily a VB6 programmer and have worked on GUI interfaces and client/server solutions, usually to a MS SQL Server (or Access) incorporating ADO.

Any help would be much appreciated.

While you are correct in that your question doesn't belong in this forum I'll leave it here for a while.

The best thing that I can think of for you to do is to practice interviewing with a friend who hopefully will have some VB job-hunting experience. BTW and although I haven't done it in a while, it's been my experience that prospective employers don't ask technical questions but are more interested in talking about what kind of projects you have been involved with.

If you are still nervous when you do interview it probably would not hurt to say something like "I consider myself an excellent programmer but interviews always make me nervous and I hope you will consider that when you judge my answers".

Since this thread wound up pretty much buried on the second page of ClassicVb, I'm moving it to where it should be which, hopefully, will generate more responses.

I have gone through about a zillion interviews in my career, and the questions asked are fairly constant when it comes to me and my background, but differ completely with respect to technological know-how. Each company will have different needs for a prospective programmer. There needs should be specified in the job posting you respond to. Pay close attention to the job requirements as listed. You can bet you will be questioned on your abilities/background pretty heavily in this area.
