    Talking

Hi, I have a couple of questions:
    • Can anyone give me an example (a sketch) how I use DirectDrawClipper objects to blit sprites on the edge of the screen?
    • Can anyone recommend a good way to learn DX8? I'm really confused with all the changes MS made with DX.

    Thanks!

    Hey...

if you're worried about the download taking forever get gozilla. that way you continue the download even after its stopped.

    ...or FlashGet...

If you want a module with easy-to-use functions to work with DX7, go to http://www.planet-source-code.com and look for "DX Plug". It's the best DX module available, and believe me - I've seen lots of them that weren't even half as good!

does that make the download actually go faster or is it just a fancy name?

Sure, it messes a bit with your configurations to go over some procedures that make the download safer but waaay slower

You can download only the bits you want if you like. There is a large 130MB or so download of the full DX8 SDK, but if you don't need any C++ stuff then you can choose to download individual bits and just leave out the C++ stuff. That will be less than 100MB I expect.

I downloaded the DX7 SDK on a normal modem in about 9 hours I think, last year (got cable now thankfully). I left it overnight. The DX7 SDK was about 110 meg I think.

    Very nice tutorial

"you can look for tutorials at dx4vb here "
"this site has tons of cool stuff."

I've got DSL, and it took me about 20 min to download the 130 meg SDK. (brag brag brag...)

You can write to Microsoft, and purchase the SDK for a small price, and they will send it to you on CD.
