AI contests

At school we have a tank program written in VB where you can write AI programs and have them fight each other. Immediatley after learning about this, me and some friends decided to have a contest, where we would all write bots for this game and fight them against each other in a touranment. Unfortunatly we have not gotten the game off of the old computers it is stored on yet.
what I would like to know is if anybody knows if there are any similar things like this out there, or if anyone has a program more suitable for AI, preferably using VB for both, as that is the only language we all know.
in the tank game all there is is aiming and moving, with some bricks, so there might be something out there more suited to it
