This smacks of blatent European protectionism. They just can't face the cold, hard fact that squirrels based overseas are able to outforage, outclimb, outbreed, outhop, and possibly even outcute the traditional models, so, cloaking themselves behind a fascistic "save a British squirrel, eat a foreigner" campaign, they're planning on committing genocide rather than admit that, as their local rodentia simply can't compete, they don't deserve to remain.

Lack of competition, in the name of protecting national squirrel populations, has led to inefficiency among British breeds, and an artificial squirrel wage structure. This is nothing less than comprehensive squirrel welfare butting its ugly head into the ultimate private market: Nature herself. If you try to curtail the natural evolution of the private market, the British Red squirrel (how apropriate is that?) will grow still more inefficient, content in the knowledge that no matter how lazy and demanding it gets, it can count on subsidies from short-sighted Britons more willing to throw them a peanut, rather than spend it on a more hard-working grey squirrel, simply because they don't like how they look.

This is racism, people. Squirrel racism. You Limeys are hating on the grey squirrels, and are willing to kill and eat them, simply because of the color of their fur. For shame, have you learned nothing?

And if you attempt to drive the noble grey squirrel from your shores, they'll simply take themselves and their talent to your competition, who will benefit from what you are unwilling to tolerate. Maybe then, the grey squirrels will have their revenge. And all because you simply can't admit that grey squirrels might be better at something than your lazy little models, content to sit on their Nutkins and collect a check for doing nothing other than having the right color fur.
