Re: Astronomy pics
They're beautiful. I think I liked the Orion nebula enough to make it a wallpaper
What sort of a telescope do you have? How much did it cost? And how do you escape the city lights?

What kind of scope you got?
And, to mendhak, the best way is to retreat to a mountain or a hill outside the city, and after midnight, when the temperature variation settles.

According to http://www.lostworldcreations.co.uk/ :
They were taken using a Meade LX75 8" SC Telescope and a Canon G3 digital camera. I used a Scopetronix max view 40 with G3 T-ring connector

Re: Astronomy pics
Cool thanks everyone
its a SC meade LXD 75 with a canon G3 digital camera. The telescope has autoguiding which helps for the nebula pics. The exposure is a 15 second one on the orion nebula and a 200th of a second (I think) on the Saturn pics.
I live in a village but light polution is still an issue, Hopefully my new stuff will arrive soon (waiting for ages). Its a Light reduction filter ,focal reducer and barlow, ill post my results when and if I ever get any.
Anyone else got a scope?

You have software which can tell you exact positions of stars, planets etc. from your location at any given time.
And there telescopes that motorized and computerized, so they can automatically direct themselves at the object you want.

I'm thinking of buying an Orion AstoView 6, but just for observation. I am not very interested in astrophotography.
It's a problem to find a store which will ship it my way. And the ones that do, in most cases, the shipping price can exceed the price of the scope.

Re: Astronomy pics
Very nice. I am jealous, I have on occasions attached my dads 35mm SLR to my scope, but taking anything dimmer than the moon is a disaster. I guess a motor is a must when you have a long exposure.
Looking at a picture of a nebula and lokoing at it with the naked eye is quite different. When viewed through the telescope the nebula appears as a haze. But take a picture and you got all the beautiful colours. Stunning
