Justification for upgrade to 2005

Guys,

Can somebody give me some valid arguements why I should need to upgrade to VS2005. My director wants to see this before he will pay for the upgrade. He's very keen to always be using the latest technologies, so framework V2 should be a big enough reason. Could somebody just highlight the top 5 benefits that I will see as a developer and perhaps a few business benefits ?

Or just point me in the direction of other resources that could show this.

Winforms mainly, but a few small web apps and probably more in the pipeline.

do i need to say anymore?
i will anyway.. when i upgraded a project (yes, only one, my work projects r still 03) i found that there are alot of benefits, lots of new additions that mean old code could be scrapped and replaced with provided solutions in the new framework. So if you have the ability to use the new one than do it.

A new version doesn't always mean you should upgrade. With companies, it's about ROIs. If you feel that 2.0 offers more features, features that you think you'll need in future application development, then go for it.

I would say that ASP.NET has seen a tremendous improvement with VS 2005, definitely more than winforms gets. (framework features <> winform features)

So if you plan to move on a web based application development path, then I definitely say you should go for VS 2005.

Are there any MAJOR issues with framework 1.1 that have been resolved in V2 ? Or is it just added features/namespaces etc.
