Converting a Visual Studio 2005 project to lesser version

Can anyone tell me a way I can convert a Visual Studio 2005 project to a 2003 or 202 project. I have visual studio 2005 version 8.0.50727.42. I did 4 VB.net homeworks in this version and my instructor says he can't use them because he has a lesser version. Help :-(

    Welcome to the Forums.

2005 is not backwards compatible with any previous versions.

Thanks---I guess you confirmed what I didn't want to know.

Then my second question is--- Do you know how I could get a version of an old Visual Studio on a 90 day or less trial? It seems microsoft looks like they will offer the trials but I only see it for the latest version.

There were some links posted for 2003 in this forum. I'll try a search and also a search on MS would be good too. They might remove the trial or Beta version when 2005 came out.

Why not tell your teacher to download and install the free express version of 2005? Then he can run the project from within an IDE.

I could ask him to do that. I'd rather not. He probably thought of that himself and decided not to....I'll try it out though. See what kind of response I get.

You could also tell him that since it free, all students could be running it at home too. Although if hes afraid or intimidated by "upgrading" he wont do it.

All 2003 links I found were no longer on the MS site.

Or you could download it for him and burn it to cd so all he has to do is Install it

Re: Converting a Visual Studio 2005 project to lesser version

Thanks. I will try the CD idea. Thanks for looking for those 2003 Beta Links. I found deadends also on that. Regarding my teacher---and he calls himself a geek! I wanna say, what kind of geek are you that you are afraid of a little upgrade? It be really funny if he sees this thread on this forum.

I might check to see if I can find an old vb.net 2003 book with a free trial cd in it too. I have one but I installed it on a work computer and it won't let me install it at home now. I never have time at work to do this kinda stuff. Didn't know it wouldn't let me register a trial on two different computers.

You may be able to uninstall it from your work system and install it at home but maybe call MS first and see if they can release the registration hash or number before you uninstall. They only allow one instance of the software but you can move it AFAIK.

Re: Converting a Visual Studio 2005 project to lesser version

About calling Microsoft---When I try to use the second installed version of the old VB Studio Trial it doesn't let me change the option from "internet registration" to "telephone registration" So, I don't get an opportunity to see a phone number. Perhaps I will need to wait until monday- to reach them on another number.

They are open 24/7 so you might try a search on MS for a contact # in your area or a toll free one.
