what it dose is it puts a pic of Melissa on ur screen, i dont know where or how big. it was designed for out look. this shows how stuipid out look is. it goes threw all ur addresss and sends them the picture. this is y i dont use out look, cause virus r designed for it.
basicly my school dosent have virus protection. and any one can use them. i told a kid that typeing in /con/con in run would make his net connections go faster, he belived me. that was funney.
the truth is most people dont know anything about computers. they know how to use windows thats it. they dont know what vbs or even exe is! thats y. but it wouldnt be spreading if they didnt use outlook.
I know vbs but can't see the point of writing viruses myself, waste of my time more than anything.
Anyway, it's like the I love you one, I have a mate that got it 3 times yesterday & it puts an entry into the registry :

If your worried, a lot of the virus checker companies have already got the fix if you just update yours, you should be ok. A specific fix for this is attached though :

That is true, but it's not their fault, they need somebody to teach them, it's not like you just wake up and know C++ or ASM. You have to learn it, and obviously they haven't yet.

You're saying, that we shouldn't use Outlook because viruses are designed for it. following that logic, we should all stop using all computers. There are viruses for the PalmOS, Macintosh, *Nix, Windows(obviously), etc. And they were all made for these specific systems, so we should just stop using these? Or perhaps make an OS of our own and not let anybody know about it.

More & more higher hackers are targeting other apps than Outlook (trust me, I'm a techie & actually read all the surveys in loads of sites & Pc mags etc)
Linux is boasting that it's security is the best, and it appears the trend for viruses is to move toward this, some sort of power thing - MS is too easy, Look world, I can crash Linux type thing.
There have also been plenty written for Lotus Notes & other apps too. I think Outlook is hit because it supports more formats.

Plus, Outlook is microsoft, which means used by a lot of people. Why target Eudora when there's a chance you're going to affect less than 30% of the people who recieve the virus?
They've given us enough bugs, why not give them some back is another reason a few people use (have just been looking at these news pieces I've saved up...)

Is no-one bothered about the arse who tried to post a virus on the forum ? If I were John ( oh, just the thought of it ... ) er, I would block the sh*t's IP address and delete his account.
I would agree that there is a type of intrest in knowing how these top people code and write these viruses, but this is a good, clean site that's for genral VB help, you can goto somewhere like hacker.net for all this type of stuff, but I agree with Paul that it's not a good idea promoting or pasting the code here.

It's not a good idea, I agree, but there's no need to get militant about it. I missed the code, which I'm kinda disappointed about cos it would be interesting to see it, but it shouldn't really be here. So remove the code. It's done. Don't have to start blocking people's IPs and deleting their accounts (not that either of those actions would make a blind bit of difference).
[email protected] any chance of editing so it doesn't work though (change extension, shove <!-- & --> around it etc?)

I noticed, my *}:#£$%! virus checker did it's job I suppose, could you try zipping it ? or turning it into a word document or something ?
I missed the last 2 vbs viruses because of this [sigh]

An IP address can be blocked from any server, or ISP, so that's a yes.
However, I did find a tool a while back that allowed you to surf "invisibally" - it hid your IP address & you could look at any site, so there are ways around it.

Paul, i see your point, not only yours but everybodys so i just would like to appologize for posting this ****ty code on this great forum i promise not to do it again...
and sorry paul for my previous post yelling at you and stuff (sometimes i get brutal and i say things i don't really mean)
notice all these programs r made in vb? and they dont do that much damage. it means its just a joke from a kid. i saw a show on hackers last night. it showed a kid, 15 who hacked into nasa and took the new space station control programs. he had complete control of it. he got cought and is under 6 months house arrest. its shows that these virus r made to get attention to themselfs. a real hacker would just do it, not get cough and tell no one.

Although I'm going to be pedantic here...
A hacker is someone who enjoys using computers and writes small/fast code as a matter of personal pride. A cracker is someone who breaks into systems.
The really dangerous crackers are those who work the stuff out, rather than the "script kiddies" who do it -- it's like America's 3-strikes-and-you're-out policy. They're punishing the users & small-time dealers, rather than the big producers and international smugglers.

Now I find that definition odd, although I've heard it before, because of the origin of the work 'hacker'. Originally, before computers, a hacker was someone who wandered around. At least that's what I seem to have lodged in the back of my brain. So it seems sensible to me that a hacker should be someone who wanders around the internet in a determined kind of way, not letting anyone keep them out. So a hacker doesn't necessarily do damage, just accesses information.
Seems like an odd way of naming things to call that a cracker, although a cracker does bypass security. It's just the wandering bit that doesn't seem to fit in with the 'cracker' tag.
the way i was tought was a hacker was a person who will hack into ur computer and not do any thing bad or cause every little damage. a cracker will do magor illagle things, like steal bank cards, steal files, shut down sites, ect.
Well thanks but I already knew what a nomad was. I'm not asking what someone who wanders around is called, I'm saying that one old name for that type of person was a hacker.
