Resolved [RESOLVED] IDE hard drives in SATA motherboard?

I have an old pc with IDE hard drives and motherboard.

I want to upgrade my processor/motherboard, but all modern motherboards are SATA, will my old IDE hard drives connect to a SATA motherboard??

    Thanks

Yeah it should. Sata is just a connection type of the mother board. Check the online specs and see if you can find an IDE port on it. If you dont see one then the mother board wont support it.

    ok, cool, thanks for replying.

Another problem is that i have two hard disks, is it likely there will only be one ide port?

No, It should still have a primary IDE slot and a Secondary. And remember that most IDE cables have 3 connections on them... One for the motherboard, one for a primary, and one for a secondary .... So 4 IDE drives can connect to 2 IDE slots.

Actually the SATA connectors are completely different and do not connect to an IDE connector. They do make SATA PCI card adapters that you can connect your SATA drive to.

Yes, check your new mobo specs to make sure they have IDE sockets.

    I just updated my post.

I dont think so but your mobo should have IDE sockets still as SATA is about only a year old.
