How to test speed of server?

I have access to two different web servers both have php installed.How can i compare speed of both servers?

What kind of speed test? Internet download speed or system speed or ???

i think hes looking for internet speed... u might have to try it good old fashioned way just download a file from it and check the speed.. however that it all dependent on ur connection... or just ask the company

also try pinging the server might give u an idea... about 14 ms 10/100 meg server

You can go to dslreports.com and test your download speeds but you need to be on the server in order to do so.

You can create a baseline under normal operations with the perf counter, I think it is, and then analyze the loads it receives under operations over a period of time.

Also, there may be some stress testing software that will places the loads on it for you.
