While on the VB forum, my system seems to hang up more often than it used to.

I do not think AOL 6.0 is to blame, but it might be. I do not remember when I installed it, but think it had been installed for a while before the problems started.

The VB Forum software is relatively new, and I suspect it might be the cause. It seems to happen while at this site, which might merely be post hoc ergo protor hoc. I spend more time here than at any other site, so if AOL and my OS are having a problem with eachother, the odds favor it happening while I am here.

I have a lot of software installed, some recent. It could be that install of recent software replaced some dll, creating a problem which shows up while I am on the Internet.

Is anybody else reporting more hangups than usual when at this site?

It would help if you folks could tell me one of the following.

No way, VB forum is not causing problems for any one else.

Might be, we are still working on new version of VB Forum software.

Very likely, others are reporting problems.

We really are not sure enough to make an intelligent guess.

I haven't had any problems either, but if I did, it would be hard for me to tell what it was, because I am on the VBW forums every second I am online.

And Harry is right, AOL is horrible. I used it from version 2.7 to version 4. Then I realized it sucked

    Do I have a choice?

Is it AOL 6.0 or Explorer?

It is a bit inconvenient, but I can switch to Netscape browser after siging on to AOL.

Is there a way to get AOL to use Netscape?

    Didn't AOL buy Netscape?

If you want to test if it's AOL, you could try a local rate dial-up ISP, there are plenty of them around.

You can try NetZero, just to see if AOL is the problem. When my parents used AOHELL, I couldn't stand it, so I just took it off my computer and used netzero. It works fine, but u have to look at the banner, which isn't as bad as seeing all that crap at the top or GAY-OL.

    AOL / Netscape

AOL owns netscape as well as ICQ!

They cannot use netscape due to an 'Agreement' with Microsoft... (Oops shouldnt have signed that one huh!)

Im just glad AOL hasnt messed with ICQ

    yes they have!!!

ICQ 2000 has numerous problems with opening links. but that could be IE5.5...

plus all the new features ICQ has just makes it bulky, I don't even use 1/2 of them.

    Problem gone??

My problem seems to have ridden off into the sunset all by itself.

To the best of my knowledge, I have done nothing which would fix the problem, but it seems to have stopped happening.

No idea. Actually the SMS messaging is one of the only features that have been added in the recent past that I like. That and the way your message windows become sort of IRC-like, in that the messages you send and receive all appear in one main window. That's an improvement.

A cool thing about the SMS messages is that if you send someone a message on their mobile, they can reply and you get a message back from them on ICQ. I think that's funky.
