Perl - Practical Extraction and Report Language

PHP started out as Personal Home Pages, because thats what Rasmus Lerdorf used it for. but it soon evolved into a HTML preprocessor, so, if I remember correctly, this is what the acronym means.

PHP - PHP(Personal Home Pages) Hypertext Preprocessor

    here's another page to peruse

    http://www.acronymfinder.com/

(yet) another thing that annoys me is people who use the word acronymwhen they mean abbreviation

Acronym is an abbreviation which makes an pronounceable word

    Eg PERL,ASCII,DOS are Acronyms

    Whereas
NT, HTTP etc are just abbreviations

    PS,

GNU (mentioned above) is a recursive acronym
    It means Gnu Not Unix

By the way (or BTW given the circumstances), I remember a programme called "Why Don't You", and I remember endless serieses of it being shown on TV with a different set of supposedly talented young presenters every time, but I have no idea what the TOTTADSLBI bit means.

As far as I can rememeber, it was Why Don't You Switch of The Television And Do Something Less Boring Instead.

Which was (and is ) the most perfect example of of anti-advertising ever.

BTW, anyone remember the Swap Shop telephone number? Trip to Grimbsy for the winner....
