[serious] SkypeOut, anyone use it ?
Hey, well i'm currently looking for alternatives to the conventional phone connection using BT and the like in my home, and i came across SkypeOut.
Now, i know Skype has really good quality calls and excryption etc. I've read as much information about this as i possibley can, but still, one question remained unanswered.
What is the minimum i must put into my SkypeOut account ? I was thinking of only putting £1 in it to begin with, as this would get me 71minutes worth of cals to a Landline in the UK.
Also, do they accept Solo ? (Aka Maestro)

Not used Skypeout, but I do use VoIP at work and at home and that works great!
Make sure they have decent emergency calling though! Also I believe if you have DSL you'll also need a phone line.

I used SkypeOut. It works great. The minimum I could put was 10 euros. Only that package is available for purchase.
Regarding Solo, I am not sure, but you can set up an account on MoneyBookers (like paypal) and pay through them.

Also, regarding the credit, why not simply register (it's free) and then when you go to buy credit you will see what your options are.

Afraid not. Solo can only use the Maestro functionality for drawing out money abroad

Can I use Solo wherever I see the Switch or Maestro logos?
No. Many places now accept Solo but in the UK you should only use it wherever you see the Solo logo or know it's accepted. However, it is always worth asking as many retailers don’t display logos of the cards that they accept – or may not realise that people want to use Solo in their outlet.
For Solo cardholders, Maestro is only for use abroad.

Thats a shame really, why have the functionality abroad, but not in the Home country ?
Very strange.

You can use your parent's credit card on money bookers. Then use it to buy credits on Skype.

Re: [serious] SkypeOut, anyone use it ?
My parents are alot poorer than i, i help with debts and such.
So, no credit cards here, only my Debit Card.
I could send a money order i guess.
And RD, Skype is free, but i want to be able to call landline phones and mobiles through my broadband connection, which costs money.

Re: [serious] SkypeOut, anyone use it ?
Exactly, but its dirt cheap.
1pence (about 2 cents) would get me 71 minutes to a landline, which is VERY cheap.
That same penny would get me about 14 minutes to a mobile (cell) phone.
As i said, Very cheap.
