drop down button
Hey,
Is there a control in .net 2005 that looks like a button with a little arrow pointing down on the side which opens up a context menu when pressed?
I know I can do that with a regular button, but there will be no arrow.
I know I"ve seen something like that before, but can't remember where.
Thanks,

Re: drop down button
Are you talking about a combo box control or perhaps a toolbar button menu?

Re: drop down button
Yes, I believe it is a toolbar button menu. Can I place those on the form itself instead of a menu or a toolbar?

Re: drop down button
I dont believ so but you can use a regular command button with a context menu. Then on the click of the button you show the cm and position it at the bottom left corner of the button.

Re: drop down button
Yeah, I was aware of that method. I thought I could use a control like that on the form itself.
Thanks a lot for the quick replies.

Hi,
It's more like an ToolstripDropDownItem Class you need, see this link!
With an examplecode aswell!

Hope it helps you.

Re: drop down button
But isnt that example still using a contextMenuStrip1 control? Seems like it would be alot easier to just use a ContextMenu, less code too.

Hi Rob,
If you think, and I think you do with your experience, that contextMenu is better than He has to try it.
But this example is copied from the Toolstrip......Item Class and It mentioned
DropDownButton like He asked.
Dim b As New ToolStripDropDownButton("DropDownButton")

Re: drop down button
This may be the lazy way, but what about adding a toolstrip, adding the one button you want to it, undock it, and change the gripstyle to hidden.
