Re: Adds using 100% of CPU...

Half of the ads that popup on the side at Codeguru crash my browser, and they are damn annoying anyway. I don't visit that site anymore, it's a nice place but the ads have ruined it for me, and I think many others. If VBF had that many ads I would leave.

Re: Adds using 100% of CPU...

Its because you use FF Penagate

I use IE as everyone knows and it never crashes on CG. I have more of a problem with CG's loading speed as its extremely and antagonising slow. I rarely visit there because of this.

I haven't had problems with the ad myself, and I use FireFox... I did notice a few weeks ago some Flash update autoinstalled or something... maybe that was some sort of fix...

Actually Fx is fine with it, just needs to be updated. Besides why would I use an inferior browser to view an inferior forum?

Oh, and if Fx is so bad why is M$ developing IE with all these new functions that happen to be in all the other browsers?
Wow! IE7 will be CSS compliant! It will have tabbed browsing! errrr...hang on, isn't that already available with all other browsers?

I really don't knew why people hate ms so much but for some reason the biggest haters are the once that have the most tools/softwares/untilitys/books/cds that were made by ms.

I found out that people got big rammers are IE and Firefox that are not correct: for example they say Firefox is safer then IE, this is not true although IE comes with the medium security level on and Firefox already set for high doesn’t mean that IE is less secured then Firefox.
I also found so many websites claiming that that Firefox is more web compatible then IE, I found this a big lie according to 10+ sources that I consider top of the line, said that IE can read more then most other browsers, more then Firefox.
I also found that many people user Firefox just so they can change the theme, this can easily done in IE with few custom add-on, I even knew how to make it form vb.

Re: Adds using 100% of CPU...

my last OT post in this thread:

    - Firefox IS more secure than IE. IE is integrated into Windows and contains security holes that can be exploited to gain control of the users system, this is a known fact. The turnaround time for patches for these holes is very slow and sometimes they are not patched at all. Firefox is patched very quickly, it does have a couple of known vulnerabilities at the moment but they are being fixed. If you go to well-known reputable security sites they will tell you that Firefox is more secure. Just look at the list of Secunia advisories for Firefox and IE, and the ratings for the two products.
    http://secunia.com/product/11/
    http://secunia.com/product/4227/

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x with all vendor patches installed and all vendor workarounds applied, is currently affected by one or more Secunia advisories rated Highly critical
Mozilla Firefox 1.x with all vendor patches installed and all vendor workarounds applied, is currently affected by one or more Secunia advisories rated Less critical
    - Firefox is more compliant with WEB STANDARDS. Because IE has been the dominant browser for so long (and still is) many sites on the web are not coded to correct standards. in 99% of cases this is what makes sites look bad in Firefox. Firefox renders compliant web sites better than IE, again this a known fact.
    http://www.webdevout.net/browser_support.php

    - Although this is an extremely trivial point, IE does not have theme support, you hack by changing some registry keys, etcetera. Firefox does. But again, extremely trivial compared to the other two points.

    - In conclusion - Please do your research and know what you are talking about before you post. now can we PLEASE keep the browser wars to the appropriate threads?

Edit: not a blind MS hater either, I judge products by how well they work and companies by what they do and stand for.

Re: Adds using 100% of CPU...

I wish people that design WAP sites would put more effort into getting things right. How difficult could it be to design a small screen that can be scrolled that has a few links in it, so you can see more information, and then maybe a text box or two?

I'm on my third cellphone trying to get to a site. I finally got there, and found it to be ridiculous. Next to useless!

I say we jump on the bandwagon. I guess VBulletin would have to do the WAP part, but I'm not sure. It'd be cool to be able to log in and read PM's from a cell phone, or read subscribed threads...
