[RESOLVED] DSL Speed Question
Just 30 minutes ago I've got this 256KBPS DSL connection.
Though the package says it is 256KBPS, I'm getting only 30-40KBPS download speed. Is it normal ?
(I mean is it like dial-up - a 56kbps connection can give maximum <>5kbps download speed )
Or should I call support ?

Re: DSL Speed Question
Depends on your ubscription package but its really sloooool. Go to http://www.dslreports.com to do an accurate test. I have DSL with guarenteed rates of 1500 down and 384 up.
Edit: here is the link for you to actually test your connection.

i may be wrong, but i think your download package is 256Kbps . Whereas the speed you getting if in KBps , then it is appropriate.

Re: DSL Speed Question
For my downloads I get 170-190+ Kbs so it seems slow to me.

Re: DSL Speed Question
(downloading jre. I'll try the test. meanwhile,)
Is there *really* any difference between kbps and KBps
I have seen some app uses,
kbps = kilo BITS per second
KBps = kilo BYTES per second
Is logical/correct ?
TaskManeger is showing 30-40 KBPS but DU-Meter is showing 70-100kBps.
Edit: Poseted it before seeing fahad_k's reply.

Re: DSL Speed Question
b->bits.
B->Bytes.
1 Byte=8bits.

Re: DSL Speed Question
fahad_k, your link shows 312kbps for download and 50.72kbps for upload speed. Whereas my maximum speed is 256kbps.

Re: DSL Speed Question
Well i think the download speed is perfectly fine.Since a 256 Kbps gives around 220+ speed.I think you were just confused with bits and bytes.No problems here.
