    Problems with my media player

Hey all...i have attached my media player, and i am facing a couple of problems with it.

    1) It cannot play long .avi files, such as lengthy movies. (You only get sound and a blank new window)

    2) I wish to add a slider bar or progress bar, whichever enables me to view how much of the song (or whatever) has elapsed, and control the sound file using it (for example: rewind it a little)

3)i wish to display the length (time) of the sound clip being played.

if anyone can help...id be grateful...thanxx

    Mystikal,

can your project play MP3 files? because the list is displaying only MP3 files and sorry to say, when i tried to play a song, nothing happened. it could not play the song.

since i never used Multimedia control, i cannot comment what's wrong in the project. but you can use Windows Media Player control, which can (IMO) play all types of files, including video (probably AVI too, if you have its codec installed on your PC).

please take a look at this thread
it also includes an alternative method of palying such files, using DirectShow.

Thanks for the PM. I've never needed to write a media player, as there are already many free ones out there. That's all I use. Sorry.

its probably a codec problem with the no video but sound, try the nemo codec pack see if that solves it.
