Ok, am I going crazy...
So,
I launched off a simple VB app I created and then went to Explorer and renamed the EXE and Windows let me.
I would think I'd receive an "Access Denied" error like I do when I try to delete the same EXE while it's running, but I don't.
Is it just me or does Windows actually allow you to do this?
BTW, I am running a fresh install of Windows XP SP2 on 2 machines and both machines allow the rename while running.
Thanks,
Chris

Did you reboot after changing names? (Don't blame me if that causes a problem )

Nope, I didn't reboot, I didn't need to. If I rename an application and try to do anything in it, it will just crash.
I just figured Windows would throw an "Access Denied" error when trying to rename a running application.
I could also rename other programs, like nero.exe, when then are running.
Strange.
Later,
Chris

are you sure it is actualy running? is it in the proscess list in task manager? if it isn't then that would prove crazy.

100% positive. I even had 2 co-workers watch the strangeness happen.

Re: Ok, am I going crazy...
weird. maybe it is another bug. when you change a file name whilst running the app, press f5 to refresh explorer and see if the name is still what you change it to because something like this happened at school on one of there servers that i was playing around with where i could change a folders name but when i refreshed explorer it was back to the old name. dont know why it happens.
