Lasik
Wow! I just had my Lasik done on Friday and its a whole new world. 23 years of wearing glasses, but never more. I should have done this years ago. Anyone else out there share the joy?
Guess I'll have to change my Avatar..

I need it, but I don't think it's covered. How much was it?

Re: Lasik
It's not covered (usually) and costs $2,000 per eye. You have to plan for it and get the cash into your FSA the year you want to do it.

I knew there was a reason I've been putting it off. But, our enrollment period for that deal is this month and next, guess I should think about it.

You look like Daniel Jackson.
I am also thinking of getting it done at a later point (like, when I have money). I'm with contact lens for now. Congratulations, I'm sure it must be great.

Re: Lasik
I would worry about long-term effects....except that my eyesight has never been as bad as 20-20, so I will just get glasses as I get old like everybody else. Didn't even wear sunglasses for five years on the water because they cut down my eyesight. Paying for that now!
However, there have been several people who have talked to me about that surgery. My response is a shrug. I have no idea whether this will be a permanent solution, or will end up like breast implants: looks good for now, but you regret it later on.
Therefore, could you tell us how your opinion will change, and in which direction, over the next ten years?
Also, provide code plz!!

A person undergoing surgery went blind. It could be an urban legend.

Re: Lasik
RK and Lasick have been around for many years so if there was any long term effects I'm sure we would have heard about them already.

I poked myself in both eyes with a bit of broccoli, such was my desire to emulate Berkhof from "La Femme Nikita". Now I hear he's just an actor. Life is a *****.

It was Intralasik, where they use a 2nd laser to make the incision in the corneal cover, rather than the older method that uses a microkeratome (basicly a blade) to cut the flap.

more like 2 days. I took off the dorky sunglasses they gave me on Sunday and haven't had any issues.
