[RESOLVED] Where Does Windows Messenger Hide?
I have XP. Windows Messenger currently starts up when I reboot and I don't want it to do that. I expected to find it in
C:\Documents and Settings\Martin Liss\Start Menu\Programs|Startup
or
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs|Startup
but I don't see it.

Re: Where Does Windows Messenger Hide?
I got rid of it a long time ago, so this is just a guess.. it's probably in the registry under one of these keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
If not, run "MSConfig" (it will be in your path, so can be run from the normal Run dialog) and look at the StartUp tab.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run was it, thanks.

I also don't have it any more but isn't it an option? It is in MSN Messenger... Tools -> Options -> General -> Automatically run Messenger when I log on to Windows.
If I remember rightly it is something similar in Windows Messenger.

Could be but at the time when I looked I didn't see any mention of Messenger.

Do you have the messenger thing disabled in your services window? Those really annoying black popups?

I never get any popups thanks to the Google toolbar.
