    Ok, i downloaded what i think is the basic part of the platform SDK, but there were hundreds of options that i didn't select, because i didn't want 2 GB of stuff i would not use. So what are some good parts/"Must Have" parts of the platform SDK that deal with c++ and API/MFC, that i should go back and get?

    Thanks

    Firstly, the Platform SDK does not cover either C++ or MFC. It's strictly API documentation only.

    Must-have parts include:

    Documentation->User Interface Services
    Documentation->Win32
    Documentation->Base Services
    Documentation->Tools and Languages
    Documentation->Graphics and Multimedia->Windows GDI
    Sample Code->User Interface Samples
    Sample Code->Simple Win32 Samples
    Sample Code->Base Samples

    I didn't have any problems by downloading the installer file from the FTP site, running it through windows installer and downloading the files it wanted manuall through FTP.

    I guess what i meant was, i downloaded the options you said were "must-have" ones, and it downloaded fine, but when i went to view the documentation is when i got the errors.
