I just installed Access 2000, made a database. But i cannot get vb to reconize it. I use the DAO and when i go to recordset, after choosing the file, it tells me that its not the right format. Access 97 worked just fine, whats going on?

Make sure you have a reference to DAO 3.6 and not 3.5x

Sure. All you have to do is to install the most recent MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components)

i installed it, and no luck. There was no change. i even went to tools>resources, and unchecked DAO 3.51 and checked 3.6 still no go. I put down a new DAO, still wont work. However i got the ADO to work, but it just doesnt seem to do the same as DAO, and ideas?

Are you using the Data Form Wizard to connect? I have had the same problem when using the wizard. For some reason it will not recognize my Access 2000 db.

If you are not using the wizard, go under Project - References and make sure that you have the reference checked. If you are having the same problem with the wizard and you ever figure out what the hell is going on, please email me at [email protected] and clue me in.

    Thanks
