    VS2005 Express

I have downloaded the Visual Basic 2005 Express edition. Just as an experiment, I converted one of my VB6 apps. With a couple minor exceptions, it loaded and ran. It interfaces to an SQL2000 db on a server.

    So, here's my question....

If my VB6 apps will convert to VS2005 and run in my domain, why would I want to spend my company's money to get VS Standard ot VS Pro? As I read the data from the Microsoft site, I am still not sure what the expense gets me.

    Re: VS2005 Express

If you use the Express editions and you don't find that there is anything that you need to do that they don't do then there is no point paying for a better version. If there is something that you can't do in the Express editions then it would be worthwhile checking whether the paid-for versions can do it. For a start, the Express editions can't create genuine installers. You're limited to ClickOnce, which has its advantages and disadvantages.
