    .Net Express

    I thought i'd mention somthing about the express Languages of .Net 2005.

    Microsoft get alot of stick (IMO not needed) for the price of there products, but I would just like to personally congratuate them on the Express languages, I was sceptical at first but have both c# and Vb installed and have so far been very very impressed. It has everything I need to continue programming and developing.

    Also Brad mentioned to me that they have released some books with the .Net express on cd's for around $17 which is truly awsome.

    'Microsoft Press just released a series of books for $16.99 that has a CD in it with them on it too. So for $17, you can basically get started programming. (books are called "Build a Program Now"'

    Just thought i'd mention this, very impressed with microsoft.

    Nice and yes I am pretty impressed with the 'EE's overall too. Downloading VC# 2005 Express got me into learning .NET properly and it has made me keen to get a copy of VS 2005 - so, smart move by MS to give these away.

    For what I need at the moment though I dont see a need to upgrade to the standard edition

    Just to let you know, Microsoft has decided to give these express versions away for free but only within the first year (last I heard). Then I guess they will start charging for them.

    BTW, none of you have noticed any of the major bugs in VS 2005? Here is a link to the news posting I made about it .

    They have been discused in greater detail elsewhere on the forums

    I agree that the EE's are good, it gives us all a chance to "practice" before actually going out and buying the full versions. If for example you find that C# doesn't work for you, all you have lost is your time. If you just want to do homework (or learn to program) then they are useful too.

    What this meens is that if you download it, install it, and register it before Nv 6, 2006, it is a free-LIFETIME license, no matter what.

    Correct (maybe my explination wasn't clear enough).

    Pretty good deal since it's the full thing minus a few bells and whistles.
