Graphics on a Website [Resolved]

I am new to designing websites but I have a header graphic that I designed and it spands the entire page. How do I cut the header up into even pieces. I see this on sites everywhere that the headers are made up of many images put together, I there a program out there that does this or is this a painstaking task that needs to be done by hand.

Can't you just use MS Paint to split the header into several different images? Then you can load the individual images as you wish.

If you have PhotoShop, you can use slicing to slice up the image into several images, and it gives you the html table layout too.

Thanks for the info, I have photoshop but cant get it to slice correctly, but I opened the image in ImageReady and have successfully sliced.

There are also rulers and guides which help you position the slicing right. You can 'pull' a line out of the rulers on the side and put them anywhere, like the edge of a layer. Your slices then stick to the lines.
