3D Terrains in Direct3D
Hi
Which software should I use if I want to create 3D terrains/worlds to use with Direct3D?
I have TrueSpace and 3DMax

Heightmaps are ok to use. You don't need to construct it with 3D modeling tools.

You can't have overhangs in heightmaps though. But if that limitation is ok for you, then at least it is the simplest way to construct a terrain.
You simply draw a grey scaled image, where the black pixels are low ground and white is top. And all the grey portions is something in between.
